The Department of Environment and Conservation will hold two public hearings on amendments to 1200-04-06, Underground Injection Control. The proposed amendments were drafted to obtain primary enforcement authority from EPA for the Underground Injection Control Program. The proposed amendments also would, among other things, change definitions for improved sinkhole and new injection well and add a new definition for recharge point and modified recharge point; ban new injection wells within zone 1 of wellhead protection areas for public water wells and springs; require all injection wells to be identified on plat maps submitted with applications; address easements for class V wells not on the property of the applicant/responsible party; change plugging and abandonment requirements; reduce the fees for permit renewals and annual maintenance; and add a modified recharge point application fee and a fee for change of ownership.
