The Department of Environmental Protection proposed amendments to N.J. Admin. Code §§7:1E, 7:9C, 7:9E, and 7:10. The proposed amendments would, among other things, establish a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) of 0.014 micrograms per liter (µg/l) and an MCL for perflurooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) of 0.013 µg/l; require testing of private wells subject to sale or lease; require testing of newly constructed wells for public noncommunity water systems and nonpublic water systems for PFOA, PFOS, and perfluorononanoic acid; establish a specific groundwater quality standard for PFOA of 0.014 µg/l and for PFOS of 0.013 µg/l; and add PFOA and PFOS to the state's list of hazardous substances. A hearing will be held May 15, 2019. Comments are due May 31, 2019. See http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/njoal/.
