The Federal Highway Administration seeks information on the status of the electric vehicle charger industry. 

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) adopted DOE’s electric vehicle charging stations categorical exclusion pursuant to §109 of NEPA to use for proposed DHS actions.

FERC amended the Uniform System of Accounts for public utilities and licensees to create new accounts for wind, solar, and other renewable generating assets; create a new functional class for energy storage accounts; codify the accounting treatment of environmental credits; and create new accounts within existing functions for computer hardware, software, and communication equipment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration proposed new fuel economy standards for passenger cars and light trucks and fuel efficiency standards for model years 2027-31, new fuel efficiency standards for heavy-duty pickup trucks and vans for model years 2030-35, and augural standards for model year 2032 passenger cars and light trucks. 

DOE proposed to amend its regulations for the timely coordination of federal authorizations for proposed interstate electric transmission facilities pursuant to the Federal Power Act.

DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management requests information regarding the launch of its “Responsible Carbon Management Initiative” to recognize and encourage project developers and others in industry to pursue the highest levels of safety, environmental stewardship, accountability, community engagement, and societal benefits in carbon management projects.

FERC adopted a reporting requirement to direct transmission providers to file one-time informational reports describing their current or planned policies and processes for conducting extreme weather vulnerability assessments.

FERC directed the North American Electric Reliability Corporation to develop a new or modified reliability standard to address reliability concerns pertaining to transmission system planning for extreme heat and cold weather events that impact the reliable operation of the bulk-power system.

DOE issued an interim final rule establishing regulations necessary to implement the Energy Implementation Reinvestment Program and other categories of projects authorized by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for Energy Policy Act Title XVII loan guarantees; revising provisions directly related to DOE’s implementation of the Title XVII Loan Guarantee Program as expanded by the IRA; amending provisions to conform with the broader changes to the program; and revising certain sections for clarity and organization.

HUD and USDA announced and seek comment on a preliminary determination regarding energy efficiency standards for new construction of HUD- and USDA-financed housing as a first step to require compliance with these standards in HUD and USDA housing covered by the Energy Independence and Security Act.
