FWS introduced the Guam kingfisher on Palmyra Atoll as a nonessential experimental population under the ESA.

FWS determined threatened species status for the northern distinct population segment of the southern subspecies of scarlet macaw under the ESA.

FWS listed the Egyptian tortoise as a threatened species under the ESA and finalized a rule under §4(d) of the Act to provide for conservation of the species.

FWS proposed to designate approximately 122,277 acres in Hawaii as critical habitat for 12 federally endangered species under the ESA.

FWS initiated five-year status reviews under the ESA for 133 species in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, as well as Canada and Palau, and requested submission of any new scientific and commercial data that has become available since the last review of the species.

FWS announced 90-day findings on petitions to add four species to the lists of endangered and threatened wildlife and plants under the ESA; the agency found that petitions to list the common hippopotamus, Morro Bay polyphyllan scarab beetle, Inyo rock daisy, and roughhead shiner may be warranted, and initiated status reviews of the species.

FWS proposed to list the Texas heelsplitter as an endangered species and the Louisiana pigtoe as a threatened species under the ESA; to designate approximately 831.8 river miles in Texas as critical habitat for the Texas heelsplitter, and approximately 1,028.2 river miles in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas as critical habitat for the Louisiana pigtoe; and proposed a rule under §4(d) of the Act to provide for conservation of the Louisiana pigtoe.

NMFS proposed to list the sunflower sea star as threatened under the ESA in response to a petition to list this species as threatened or endangered.

FWS determined endangered species status for the bog buck moth under the ESA.

NMFS initiated a five-year status review under the ESA for for the Arabian Sea, Cape Verde Islands/Northwest Africa, Central America, Mexico, and Western North Pacific distinct population segments of the humpback whale, and requested submission of any new scientific and commercial data that has become available since the last review of the species.
