EPA finalized national primary drinking water regulations for six per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS): perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid (HFPO-DA), and perfluorobutane sulfonic acid (PFBS); the Agency also finalized a Hazard Index of 1 as the maximum contaminant level goal and maximum contaminant level for any mixture containing two or more of PFHxS, PFNA, HFPO-DA, and PFBS.

United States v. Grindstone Indian Rancheria of Wintun-Wailaki Indians of California, No. 2:24-cv-01044-KJM-CKD (E.D. Cal. Apr. 9, 2024). Under a proposed consent decree, a settling SDWA defendant must pay a civil penalty of $8,963 and perform injunctive relief measures including demonstrating compliance with surface water treatment requirements, providing boil water notices and alternative water supply, and developing and implementing an extensive operation and maintenance plan for the Grindstone Indian Rancheria Public Water System. 

EPA tentatively approved revisions to Delaware’s Public Water System Supervision Program concerning drinking water regulations for the Stage 1 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproduct Rule. 

EPA approved alternative testing methods for use in measuring the levels of contaminants in drinking water to determine compliance with national primary drinking water regulations under the SDWA. 

EPA approved revisions to Louisiana's SDWA §1422 Underground Injection Control Program to include Class VI injection well primary enforcement responsibility. 

EPA approved Texas’ revisions to its Public Water System Supervision program that adopted the Agency’s drinking water rules for the Revised Total Coliform Rule and Ground Water Rule.

EPA proposed revisions to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation for lead and copper under the SDWA, including requiring water systems to replace lead service lines, remove the lead trigger level, reduce the lead action level to 0.010 mg/L, and strengthen tap sampling procedures.

EPA announced its intent to approve revisions to Texas' Public Water System Supervision program.

EPA approved revisions to the Navajo Nation's primacy program under the SDWA that adopted regulations effectuating the federal Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule and the Ground Water Rule.

EPA approved revisions to Guam's primacy program under the SDWA that adopted regulations effectuating the federal Revised Total Coliform Rule.
