The U.S. Forest Service proposed to issue a proposed directive to update its handbook on operation and maintenance of recreation sites on National Forest System lands that contain infrastructure or amenities by the Service for public enjoyment and resource protection. 

The Federal Highway Administration (FHwA) announced that it had received, reviewed, and determined to be complete a renewal package from the Ohio Department of Transportation requesting participation in the Surface Transportation Project Delivery Program, which allows for FHwA to assign, and states to assume, responsibilities under NEPA and all or part of FHwA's responsibilities for environmental review, consultation, or other actions required under any federal environmental law with respect to one or more federal highway projects within the state; FHwA developed and seeks comment on a draft renewal memorandum of understanding outlining how Ohio will implement the program with FHwA oversight. 

The U.S. Forest Service issued and seeks comment on certain interim directives on the use and storage of explosive materials on National Forest System lands as part of activities authorized under special use permits. 

The National Park Service amended its regulations for sport hunting and trapping in national preserves in Alaska to remove regulatory provisions issued in 2015 that prohibited certain sport hunting practices otherwise permitted by the state. 

The president issued Exec. Order No. 13927, Accelerating the Nation's Economic Recovery from the COVID-19 Emergency by Expediting Infrastructure Investments and Other Activities, on June 4, 2020; the order directs agencies to take all reasonable measures to speed infrastructure investments and other actions that will strengthen the economy and return Americans to work, while providing appropriate protection for public health and safety, natural resources, and the environment as required by law.

BLM proposed to revise its regulations for protests of forest management decisions and administration of the timber sale process to streamline the process for sale of forest products by BLM.

The U.S. Forest Service proposed to issue a directive to implement parts of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 and streamline its procedures for evaluating applications to locate or modify communications facilities on National Forest System lands.

The U.S. Forest Service issued proposed new directives on leasing Forest Service administrative sites. 

DOI announced its proposal to revise NEPA implementing procedures for BLM by adding a new categorical exclusion for authorization of the salvage harvest of dead or dying trees.

The U.S. Department of State updated its regulations for implementation of NEPA to reflect Exec. Order No. 13867, which revised the process for the development and issuance of presidential permits for certain facilities and land transportation crossings at the international boundaries of the United States.
