Below are summaries of Bills Introduced, Committee Reports, Chamber Actions, and Public Laws reported in the most recent issue of ELR's Weekly Update.

would repeal the sugar program under the Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act and certain other programs relating to sugar. 

would codify the authority of the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior to conduct certain landscape-scale forest restoration projects.

would improve the provision of federal resources to help build capacity and fund risk-reducing, cost-effective mitigation projects for eligible state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and certain private nonprofit organizations. 

would amend the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to make technical corrections to the hazard mitigation revolving loan fund program.

would amend the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and any corresponding regulation to extend the period for federal assistance to individuals and households.

would amend §721 of the Defense Production Act to include the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of Health and Human Services as members of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, and require the Committee to consider the security of the food and agriculture systems of the United States as a factor to be considered when determining to take action with respect to foreign investment. 

would amend the Internal Revenue Code to increase the limitation on the estate tax valuation of certain real property used in farming or other trades or businesses. 

would amend the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act to require the Administrator of NOAA to develop a plan and national guidance document to improve precipitation estimates. 

would make appropriations for DOT, HUD, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022. 

would require the Administrator of NOAA to maintain a program that improves wildfire forecasting and detection.
